Arts and Crafts Activities

The clients of Charlene's Angels have the pleasure of participating in a range of creative activities. Our arts and crafts activities are designed to complement what our clients are learning. We strive to make learning enjoyable and practical.

Classroom Activities

Charlene’s Angels effectively utilizes the classroom environment to enhance communication, social skills, and functional activities. We group our classrooms by similar abilities, enabling us to customize activities to meet the specific needs of each group. Our clients develop language and problem-solving skills, as well as time and money management.

TECHNOLOGY

At Charlene's Angels, the emphasis is placed on face-to-face learning.  Classrooms have iPads for clients to use as supplemental learning tools if needed. Our clients can use their assistive technology to communicate and express themselves.

Community Trips

You will see Charlene's Angels clients out and about in the community. Our clients love engaging in a variety of activities, including bowling, swimming, miniature golf, and attending movies and plays. The clients of Charlene's Angels enjoy visiting the Indianapolis Zoo and exploring the various museums throughout the Indianapolis area.

Physical Activities

Charlene's Angels promotes physical activity. Several days a week, our clients can participate in Zumba classes led by our volunteer, Mary S. They also have the option to work out with entertaining workout videos. Additionally, our clients enjoy taking walks around our property. They can also play frisbee, cornhole, basketball, and soccer.

Music class

Many of our clients would say that their favorite activity is our weekly music class. Charlene's Angels is fortunate to have a volunteer who comes with his guitar to sing with our Angels. The music class allows them to express their singing and dancing styles.

Functional Academics

Our functional academics strategy prepares our special adult population for success in real-world situations, regardless of their intellectual or physical abilities. Charlene’s Angels seeks to foster independence and success in the least restrictive environment possible. The goal is to encourage as much independence and autonomy as possible while remaining in a structured and compassionate environment. A special emphasis is placed on repetitive, instruction-based learning so that our clients can confidently perform daily routines as independently as possible.

Every child has a different learning style and pace. Each child is unique, not only capable of learning but also capable of succeeding.
